social-networking-cocktail-partySocial online networking is an essential for today’s Internet entrepreneur for many different reasons and i’m going to spill the beans to you as to why this is and how you can maximize your lead flow and sales from these very powerful social online networking sites. Sit back, relax, and get ready to soak all of this good info…

Now, when one thinks about social networking today, it’s probably safe to say that they’re thinking about the social networking giants Facebook and Twitter. But a common question is, “Do I really need to be on Facebook and Twitter?” Great question…

Really what social networking is all about is building relationships with other like minded people. This could be potential customers who are looking for exactly what you have to offer which happens more than you think since social media and social networks are becoming the places where people are finding solutions to their problems.

These sites are also the place where people are staying up with current events. Crazy right? Current events aren’t really what social networking sites are for…it’s just a bonus. Sites like Facebook and Twitter are how we build relationships within our niche markets. For a list of the top 25 social networking sites, check out this post from Compete.com’s blog to gain a better idea of the social online world. Now I want to put an emphasis on building relationships because this is how you build trust with one another. The web is saturated with people trying to make a quick buck…they don’t care who you are as long as your credit card is good and they can make a commission off of you. Well, those days are practically over…

Today, making money on the Internet is about building trust. People have to trust you before they give you their credit card because there is so much skepticism out there about what is legit and what isn’t or if a product is good or not. People need to feel safe about who they are doing business with.

So how do they do this? Simple. They follow you on Twitter or they friend you on Facebook  or connect with you on any other social networking site and they read what you have to say and find out a little more about you through your profiles. These are great opportunities to present yourself the right way, so be sure to take advantage.

Pay close attention to how you fill out your profiles on these sites. This is your chance to really impress your readers and followers about who you are and what you have to offer the community. Take the time to think about your message that you’re giving with your profile, which includes your picture and your links. When you mingle with people, remember it is you talking, so be yourself. Offer a possible solution to their problem, or maybe a smile, a joke or something of value. This is your chance to leave a positive impression about you and what you stand for. So don’t be a fool, fool!

When you have the opportunity, provide value…I know I’m repeating myself, but this is so important because you may only get one shot with each person and remember, we’re talking to potential customers and/or connections. Losing a possible connection can be just as painful as losing a potential customer. You never know when or where you’re going to meet your next business partner or life partner for that matter…trust me, I’ve seen people connect romantically on Facebook. How crazy, right?

Alright, here’s an important warning: Always Remember that social networking etiquette is huge. Don’t be an ass and try to spam everyone you come in contact with on these social sites. You’re only going to create a bad reputation about yourself and you’re not going to make a lot of friends. Here’s an analogy for you… If you go on a first date with someone that you want to see on a second and a third date, then you’d probably respect them enough not to try and score with them on the first date, right? Maybe at the end of the date, you peck each other on the lips and give a nice, long hug depending on how the date went, showing your respect for them. You don’t violate them and try to get in there pants right away. It’s the same thing here on these social networking site on the Internet. Keep it in your pants guys if you know what I mean and if you are a woman reading this, then keep you hands out of his pants. Got it? Good. You are “building” relationships here…keyword “building.” It does take time, but that’s alright. Patience is a virtue. Good things will come out of being patient. Provide value when you have the opportunity and, remember, be yourself. Keep things in perspective and understand that you’re probably not going to get the quick sale through these sites, but you never know.

The same concept of social networking that you apply to Facebook and Twitter can and should be applied when building relationships through blogging, forums and video marketing. Again, you’re just getting involved in the community and you’re building relationships and gaining trust.

Social networking sites can be a great conduit of driving traffic to your blog or YouTube channel so be sure to take advantage. Again, when the opportunity arises offer the invitation for whoever you are talking to to get to know you better. Too many people miss the boat on this.

The number one thing that has helped my career as an Internet marketer is building relationships and asking questions and getting answers within my online community on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, the Blogosphere and last but definitely not least, forums, especially the Warrior Forum. These communities really are a blessing and they can yield all kinds of rewards in many different forms to those who approach these platforms the right way.

Make sure you find us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or here on our blog and drop us a note…We look forward to getting to know you better. Make it a great day.
