A Mentor Helps You Compress Time

compress-time-find-mentors-imageAre you really going to pass up to opportunity to shorten the distance to success in your business? I didn’t think so.  There is a sure proof way to make this happen and it’s by adding people into your life that know what you don’t.  Tap into the resources around you and trust me you will be 2 steps ahead of your competition.  Every second wasted on being scared or unsure about asking someone to mentor you is time you could have spent sitting on a beach drinking pina colada’s.  It’s just a matter of figuring things out so stop the worrying and take the action.  You can thank me later ; )

You see, even though I mentor other people how start a business online and properly market, I too have mentors that I turn to.  Straight up, this has made biggest impact on my ability to support the people that I’m personally working with.  It helps me be the mentor that I need to be to my students. The moment you open yourself up to asking questions, admitting your ignorance, and start conquering whatever it is that you’re struggling with is when your business will blast off to a whole new level.

Here’s a quick story that is a perfect example.  After about 2 months of trying to figure out Google PPC on my own, I knew the only way to have real success and truly understand the platform was to seek out  a teacher that I could lean on and learn from.  My Google Pay per Click trainer is a truly amazing woman, her name is Cherie Yvette.  Cherie is one of the top 5 search marketing experts on the planet.  She has had so much success with lead generation on the Google platform that people pay thousands of dollars just to take her courses to learn her techniques so they can take advantage of what Google has to offer.  Her passion is in teaching people.  I’ve got to hand it to her because it would be a whole lot easier to just run people’s campaigns for them, but she is dedicated to teaching the skill.  What a perfect person to have as a mentor, huh?  Well, that’s what I thought.

Being a part of a classroom or training is different than having that person as a “mentor.”  Mentors are people that you can go to directly to ask questions one-on-one and bounce ideas off of.  It’s a two way street.  You might be asking, “How do I get mentored?”  In my case, I simply decided in the very beginning of my training that I would have a personal relationship with Cherie.  Now, these relationships don’t just happen because you think “Wow, she would be a great person to have as a mentor.”  You have to take the action to build a personal relationship with that person.  That might be through email or a phone call, it doesn’t really matter how.  The important point here is that you have to take some sort of action to get in direct contact the person you want to have as your mentor. Before you even do that be sure you’re clear about what it is you want from that person, and then ask for it!  To make the most of your new “mentor“ make sure you are a dedicated student, you ask questions, you create dialog, and you don’t waste their time.

When you find people that you yourself can model after and learn from don’t pass up that opportunity. This is the hardest part… taking action.  It may feel a little strange at first — this is only because you’ve never done it before, its gets easier– but the decision to connect and find true mentors will make the difference in your success.

How important have mentors been in your success?  Would love to hear about your experiences with your mentor.  If you’re seeking out a mentor, get in touch, maybe we can help or get you connected with someone that can help.
