email-autorepsonder-tipsAre you wondering why you aren’t making the sales you think you should even though you’re getting lots of leads every week? It probably has a lot to do with your email autoresponders. After all, they’re what’s doing the selling for you, right? Here are 10 ways that you can improve your email autoresponders today and have your conversion rates double, triple or even quadruple almost instantly.

1. Incorporate Video – the easiest way to do this is to provide a link within the autoresponder that will take your prospects to your video. Simply embed your video on your website or blog, or direct them to YouTube (or where ever the video is being hosted). Video is a great way to build an even stronger relationship and be more transparent in your message. Simple, yet powerful.

2. Write Like The Pros Copywriting is the “Million Dollar Skill.” The first thing you can do is start a swipe file of emails, blogs, or other written material that you find on the web that catches your attention. Don’t reinvent the wheel; just find content that you can model after. Keep in mind people are hit with tons of advertisements every day, so you’re going to have to be creative with what you say in order to keep your prospects attention.

3. Make Your Subject Line Compelling – The first point of contact is the subject line of your email. If the subject line is not compelling enough, it won’t matter how great your email is because no one will even bother to open it. The first step is to get your prospect to actually open your email.

4. Make Sure You’re Providing Value – The key to having success in your business is providing your potential customers with what they want. Without this, they simply won’t be your customers. Don’t fall into the trap of making your emails all about you, your product or your service. This is the fastest way to get people to unsubscribe. You can keep your prospects happy by helping them out. This might  through discounts, coupons, free material, important updates… you get it. Something that has value to THEM. Always make it about them.

5. Have A Call To Action – This is where you ask your prospects to take the next step. This could be one of three things: to send them to your sales page, to fill out an application, or to buy your product or service. If you never ask, they’ll never buy.

6. Track Your Results – Autoresponder systems today allow you to track exactly how many people are opening up your messages. Use these metrics to see what is working and what’s not and adjust accordingly.

7. Format Your Paragraphs Correctly – Break paragraphs up into “bite-size” pieces. This means that sentences don’t span the entire width of the page…have no more than 10 words per line. Also, keep paragraphs limited to 3 or 4 sentences… Max!

8. Include Links – You can include links for anything that is relevant to your email. This might be an article, a blog post, a video, a landing page, your facebook page or twitter account. It can be anything. By adding links within your autoresponders you’re adding another dimension. This is a simple way to provide your prospects with additional value (see #4).

9. Signature – All email autoresponder systems allow you to create a signature that will show up at the end of every email you send out. Use this tool, it will save you time. The signature acts like you’re business card. This is where you should include your name, the name of your company, contact information (such as your email, your phone number, and your facebook, twitter or whatever other social media links you may have), and a call to action. Really anything that will help them get to know you and your product or service better. (Check out these signature examples to get a better idea of what to do.)

10. Tap Into Your Competitors – This is one of the easiest tricks in the book. Just opt-in to your top competitors email autoresonder list. Now you can sit back and wait for their emails to come. You will be able to swipe ideas and create a stronger autoresponder marketing plan.

Never stop tweaking and adding new material to your autoresponders. Don’t forget to test your autoresponders and make sure all of your links work before you make them live. This is such a simple thing to overlook, but it can be a total nuisance if not paid attention to.

If you do not use an email autoresponder system at the moment or are looking for a recommendation, we use Aweber and have had a great experience with their system and their customer support.

If you have any tips or secrets that we may have missed here, we would love to hear your ideas…
